Prepare and record verbal SMS permission

Use an actual customer conversation, not a substitute consent link.

About this guide. Steps reflect reviewed source and screenshots. End-to-end workflow checks are still pending. If your screen differs, contact Clasp support.

Prepare the business workflow

In the business website's SMS opt-in section, verbal consent is optional and starts disabled. Enable it only if the business actually asks customers for permission by phone or in person.

Review the script and workflow, then publish the approved version. The public verbal-consent page describes that process; it is not proof that a particular customer agreed.

Record an actual permission

The source includes a staff form within the text conversation for recording the customer phone, when permission was obtained, the phone/in-person method, and the applicable script version.

Read the reviewed script in the actual interaction, obtain the customer's agreement, and only then record truthful details and attestations. Do not backdate records or pre-confirm an interaction that did not happen.

What it does not do

Recording permission does not send a text, guarantee carrier approval, or override a prior STOP. Existing opt-out and sender-readiness checks remain.

The exact form, history display, script-version behavior, and stale/opted-out cases are listed for the later workflow review.
