Set up customer card payments
Connect Stripe or Square and distinguish provider readiness from an invoice payment.
Open card-payment settings
An owner or admin can open Settings → Card payments. This area connects the business account that receives customer invoice payments. It does not change the Clasp subscription.
Clasp supports separate Stripe and Square connection paths. Use the provider account owned by the intended business. Do not enter provider credentials anywhere except that provider's secure authorization screen.
Stripe
Complete or update Stripe setup, then refresh the status in Clasp. Outstanding requirements or disabled charges mean online customer collection is not ready. Connecting Stripe does not charge a customer or mark an invoice paid.
Square
Choose Connect Square, authorize the intended Square business, check its locations, and select the receiving location. Clasp can show one of several distinct states:
- not connected or authorization expired;
- account connected but receiving location missing;
- account and location connected while invoice payments remain off because the signed payment webhook is not configured;
- ready for hosted Square invoice payments.
Eligible wallets, including Google Pay, are presented by Square's hosted checkout only when Square invoice payments are released and the account is ready. Disconnecting removes the active connection for new payments but does not delete existing financial records.
Invoice payment is a separate event
A connected provider only makes an eligible checkout path possible. The customer still needs the correct invoice/payment link and must complete provider checkout. Confirm the resulting provider event and Clasp receipt before treating the balance as paid.
Use Take payment to record an actual offline payment such as a check only after it has been received. Recording an offline payment is not the same as charging a card.
Ask Clasp and external MCP tools can prepare or send supported invoice documents, but they cannot collect money, issue refunds, connect a provider, or mark a balance paid without a dedicated authorized payment workflow.
